Elundini Home of the Disabled and Educare Centre - Western Cape, Cape Town, Milnerton -Non-Profit Organisation Registration Number: 068-786

Staff went on a first aid training course run by Clinical Dynamic, as well as an Early Childhood Development course run by the College of Cape Town. They benefited from the following excellent courses run by Western Cape Forum for Intellectual Disability (WCFID) :

* Understanding epilepsy, visual impairment and intellectual disability

* Making toys accessible for children with intellectual disability

* Grassroots course : Accounting & Finance for non-specialists.

Shell’s James Rassie joined fellow cyclists on a 1000 km epic “Tour de Elundini” cross-country cycling tour to raise funds for us. He called on Shell employees to pledge their support by sponsoring him per kilometre. Shell will match whatever amount is pledged.

Said Rassie, “Elundini was the charity I chose to support last year, and again this year. I have seen the huge amount of difference we have made and still can make to this extraordinary, but desperately-in-need, institution.”

SAVE (SA Volunteering Experience) has partnered with us. Using their experience from working with disabled children at home, Sanne and Marika from the Netherlands helped the staff with new therapeutic ideas and a handbook has been started to help new volunteers and staff. SAVE aims to send regular volunteers to Elundini, supporting us with manpower and expertise. Sanne said “I truly loved it! I wish I could come back every year to continue working with them.”

SAVE also organised an entertaining fundraiser - “Know one another’s Culture Day” which depicted scenes from our various cultures.
